The office has moved again. We’re downtown now.
WE'VE MOVED /
We packed up the office and the apartment. 88 boxes later and we're in Los Angeles in Echo Park. RS-Barcelona, M.R.K.T., Zuzunaga and DLP are all in the house. Thanks to Andy Riiska for the lovely table.
More on Wearable Tech - Style meets functionality /
My soon to be departing intern, Renso, brought a new wearable to my attention: the new Ray wearable tracker by Misfit takes a practical device and gives it a stylish edge that most other trackers lack.
The Ray uses a combination of sensors to tracks steps, distance, calories burned, and sleep. It's water resistant and features vibration and led lights to provide feedback. It also reminds you if you’ve been immobile for too long. The Ray uses button cell removable batteries with a life expectancy of around six months. It's available in Rose Gold and Carbon Black, with a few different band options and releases in March starting at $100 which puts the Ray somewhere in the middle in terms of pricing.
The future is here /
If you're lucky enough to be spending the holidays in Rio this year, take a break and visit the Museu do Amanha (Museum of Tomorrow) which opens its doors to the public on Saturday December 19. Museu do Amanha is a science museum that is meant to address issues population growth, climate change, technological advances, and changes in biodiversity that will affect the human condition in the coming decades. This stunning interactive museum poses questions to its visitors to think about their impact to our planet.
Day or night, the building is not only visually provocative, it includes technical features such as solar panels that follow the sun for maximum exposure to UV at any given moment.
Located on the Pier Maua in the Porto Maravilha neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, the museum include gardens, leisure areas, bike paths, and a reflective pool. The ground floor will include a store, auditorium, temporary exhibit rooms, a restaurant and space for research and educational activities. The upper floor, connected to the ground floor with ramps, will include long-term exhibits, a cafe and a panoramic lookout.
Meet me in Rio?
Handwoven or Digital? /
I loved finding this work by Lala Abaddon today. The pieces look like digital creations but they're actually intricate works of art, using photographs that have been cut into strips then woven into these colorful psychedelic creations.
Don't Miss out /
Promotional pricing on all RS-Barcelona US Stock products ends December 17th. Get in touch with your favorite dealer for the best prices all year on foosball and ping pong.
Wearable Tech That doesn't look Tech-y /
Finally a wearable tech device that doesn't look tech-y. My Ringly alerts me of calls, emails, texts so I can focus on what I'm doing or who I'm with and without worrying about missing important communication. I got the black onyx "opening night" version. What do you think?
Italian innovation and design sense.. /
Leave it to the Italians to come up with an electric scooter that not only combats the emissions battle, but is made with ME (a sheet molding compound) that's sturdy and lighter than its metal counterparts and can be recycled after use.
