More on Wearable Tech - Style meets functionality by Andrea Ching

My soon to be departing intern, Renso, brought a new wearable to my attention: the new Ray wearable tracker by Misfit takes a practical device and gives it a stylish edge that most other trackers lack.

The Ray uses a combination of sensors to tracks steps, distance, calories burned, and sleep. It's  water resistant and features vibration and led lights to provide feedback. It also reminds you if  you’ve been immobile for too long. The Ray uses button cell removable batteries with a life  expectancy of around six months. It's available in Rose Gold and Carbon Black, with a few different band options and releases in March starting at $100 which puts the Ray somewhere in the middle in terms of pricing.

The future is here by Andrea Ching

If you're lucky enough to be spending the holidays in Rio this year, take a break and visit the Museu do Amanha (Museum of Tomorrow) which opens its doors to the public on Saturday December 19. Museu do Amanha is a science museum that is meant to address issues population growth, climate change, technological advances, and changes in biodiversity that will affect the human condition in the coming decades. This stunning interactive museum poses questions to its visitors to think about their impact to our planet.

Day or night, the building is not only visually provocative, it includes technical features such as solar panels that follow the sun for maximum exposure to UV at any given moment.

Located on the Pier Maua in the Porto Maravilha neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, the museum include gardens, leisure areas, bike paths, and a reflective pool. The ground floor will include a store, auditorium, temporary exhibit rooms, a restaurant and space for research and educational activities. The upper floor, connected to the ground floor with ramps, will include long-term exhibits, a cafe and a panoramic lookout.

Meet me in Rio?

Italian innovation and design sense.. by Andrea Ching

Leave it to the Italians to come up with an electric scooter that not only combats the emissions battle, but is made with ME (a sheet molding compound) that's sturdy and lighter than its metal counterparts and can be recycled after use.
